Water a basic necessity in life and refreshing at the same time. This week we celebrate drinking water.
Did you know the majority of our bodies are water and our bodies function better with an influx of the stuff for good running. Without the appropriate amount of water then our brains and organs do not function well. You can feel tired or have headaches from lack of water along with other symptoms.
So how much is appropriate. As usual that would depend on your body and your activity level. The rule of thumb has always been 8 glasses (8oz) or 2 liters a day. A better rule is to drink half your body weight in oz of water – meaning if you weight 100 lbs you should drink 50 oz a day. You should also drink 1 to 2 cups of water prior to exercising.
If you already are not a water drinker you need to develop the habit. Start the day with a glass of water – actually helps activate the system.
Get some containers with the appropriate amount of water you want to consume daily and place in the refrigerator to ensure that you actually accomplish your goal.
Drink a glass of water before and after each meal. Did you know that drinking water is essential in losing weight? Yes it will help you lose more, faster. Carry water with you where ever you go. If you drink caffeinated beverages (tea, coffee, sodas) then have a glass of water after or with each one.
Getting tired of just plain water? Try lemon in your glass or prepare ice cubes with lemon sprits in them or other herbs are beneficial also – whatever flavor you like. Don’t forget you can flavor ice cubes with fruits also. Play around and find your favorite flavors.
Enjoy feeling healthier!
